California love

Although, we went to California for a very sad reason...we had some good times. Lots of family time! The kids got to hang out with cousins, go to the beach twice and get to know new friends and family. Every day they would ask, "who are we going to see today?" We are extremely blessed.
Sophie & cousin, Bianca...everyone says Sophie looks a lot like Bia when she was little.
Finally...they were dying to go to the beach
Jake was amazed watching the surfers!
We love Nana!
Also amazed...by this water faucet to rinse your fish
Port Hueneme (aka Port my weenie) pier
busy making sand castles
so happy
loves her some swings
Grandpa Bob was so busy planning the funeral, but this day he decided to let Jake tag along and made a stop at the range. Jake was so happy to get some alone time with Bob!
Santa Barbara sunset...the weather was absolutely beautiful
We got to spend some time with cousins, Ana and Alisa
Sophie loves her some Alec

Grandpa GG

Yesterday was a very sad day...Grandpa GG passed away. He got really sick about 3 weeks ago...and that was it. Congestive heart failure and Fibrosis of the lungs. Our hearts are broken. He was 87 years old and would have been married 67 years to Grandma GG. They had a love like no other. They did EVERYTHING together. And, the family that they built was amazing and unique. 6 children, 16 grandkids and 13 great-grandkids. Not to mention the extended family; brothers, a sister, brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and all of the godchildren. The list went on an on. Grandpa was a gentle man with a great smile and a tight hug for everyone. He had a way of making anyone who came in contact with him feel special. We all felt like we were his #1. I will be forever grateful that he was a part of my life for such a long time...but mostly that Jake, Sophie & Deon got to know him too. I am so proud and blessed to have such a wonderful grandparents. I'm happy to think about GG up in heaven reuniting with all of those who went before him. God Bless him! He will be missed dearly and I will love him forever and ever. Rest in Peace Gramps!

Before and After

Sophie decided she needed a haircut...so we chopped 5 inches. Sometimes a girl just needs a change...
She is a pro at getting haircuts. The gal who cut her hair was amazed because she sat so still with her hands crossed and was singing songs that came on the radio playing in the background. My little sassy Sophie.
